First Congregational Church of Rochester values Great Commission Impact. We are committed to effectively communicating the transforming power of Jesus Christ to every nation, every people group, and every social concern, beginning with those closest to us. (Matthew 28:19 – 20).
Through our Missions we seek to reach beyond the Church Green and spread the Gospel message locally, nationally and internationally in response to Acts 1:8. We support missions on each of these levels.
The Food Pantry – Damien’s Place, Wareham
Founded in 1992, “Damien's Pantry” provides both perishable and non-perishable food to those in need so that no one goes to bed hungry. It serves the food insecure in our local communities from Buzzards Bay to Dartmouth.
Inter Church Council, New Bedford
Comprised of 47 member congregations from Westport to Wareham and a volunteer force of 150 leaders, the Council is a strong faith collaborate committed to social, economic and racial justice and spiritual renewal within a framework of ecumenical cooperation.
Mobile Ministries, New Bedford
Provides food, clothing, hygiene products, and other life-sustaining items to the homeless and working poor in the New Bedford area.
New Hope Correctional Ministry, Bridgewater, MA
Chaplain Dan Croce provides non-denominational Chaplain services to the resident inmates and staff at Old Colony Correctional Center. He provides the Good News of salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to those being served and instructs and disciples resident inmates to a new life of hope and service.
National and International:
The Agape Puppets
Telling the children of the world about Jesus through puppetry and equipping others to share with their own children.
American Bible Society
Working domestically and internationally so that all people may experience the life-changing message of God's Word. ABS yearns for a world where every person in every country has access to God’s Word and so partner to translate the Bible into all languages, distribute God's Word to unreached communities and restore broken lives through Scripture-based Trauma Healing programs.
Rev. Wilbins Maginet, Ti_Plaine, Haiti
Rev. Maginet is the founding pastor of a fledgling Congregational church in remote Ti Plaine, Haiti where it is a Gospel beachhead in an impoverished community rooted in traditional voodoo. We contribute to Pastoral support as well as building needs.
NACCC Missionary Society
As a member of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches, we support the Association’s Missions Partners who are dedicated to spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in keeping with the basic principles of Congregational Christian Churches.
Operation Christmas Child
The world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child, uses gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Each year approximately 12 million shoeboxes are delivered in more than 150 countries and territories. First Congregational Church of Rochester is proud to play a small role in that mission.
In addition to formal on-going support of these listed missions, the church sponsors many shorter-term opportunities for Missions involvement such as backpack drives and Salvation Army bell ringing as well as raises funds for immediate needs such as disaster relief.
